Queen of Angels Principal
(215) 659-6393

Sister Mary Catherine Chapman, IHM, Ed.D., principal of Queen of Angels School enjoys the warm, accepting, and genuinely friendly atmosphere of Willow Grove and Abington.

Born and raised in Levittown, Pennsylvania, one of thirteen children (11 boys and 2 girls) of Bill and Leona Chapman, Sister Mary attended the area Catholic elementary and high school.  Having completed her degree in early childhood/elementary education/English at Immaculata College, Pennsylvania, Sister Mary taught for one year in a Catholic elementary school, and then entered the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. After profession, Sister Mary continued teaching on the elementary level for twelve years.

Upon receiving a Masters of Education degree in school administration from Rowan University, New Jersey, Sister Mary served as principal of Saint Cyril of Alexandria School in East Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.  Sister Mary was then assigned to Immaculata University where she taught in the education department and supervised student teachers.  “Missing the elementary scene too much,” Sister requested to return to elementary school as a principal.

Consequently, Sister Mary Chapman was appointed principal of Saint Dominic School in Northeast Philadelphia.  In August 2007, Sister earned her Doctorate of Education from Widener University in Pennsylvania. Sister then served in beautiful Virginia Beach at St. Gregory the Great School followed by Immaculate Conception School, Somerville, NJ.

Sister Mary Chapman enjoys the challenges and joys of leadership because it provides her the opportunity to engage actively with the entire school community: parish staff, teachers, school staff, students, and parents.  Sister enjoys collaborating and working with the great community of Queen of Angels School!
